I have finite amounts of time, so I do entries I don’t like for various reasons and this is one of them. It has a bit of a joke, and it moves through this discussion that’s necessary for the story to continue. I kind of like the third panel where Julius is holding out his ear.
So I’ve been through a few drafts. In the first draft, the only extended conversation Ada has with Julius is similar to this. She brings up Julius’s record and argues with him about it.
One thing I should make clear is that almost nobody in this comic is “okay”. Finch has issues, but seems like a good person dealing with a bad situation. At the data center, Chelsea the bystander they meet outside and Yellowshirt (the person Green Skull almost kills) seem like basically good people. The other people are kind of broken.
So I’m not saying Julius was a good guy here. He made a series of really screwed up decisions and recognizes that.
